If you are staying in Hatsudai, Tokyo Opera City is a convenient place for morning coffee before work. Afterwards you can go back to your apartment, or use a paid workspace nearby for a longer session.
Two coffee stops to try
Tokyo Opera City's shop guide (in Japanese) lists two cafés on the first floor:
- Excelsior Caffé: 7:30 to 21:00 on weekdays, 8:00 to 21:00 on weekends and public holidays
- Italian Tomato Café Jr.: 7:30 to 21:00 on weekdays, 8:00 to 20:00 on weekends and public holidays
Tokyo Opera City is connected underground to Hatsudai Station on the Keio New Line, so it is easy to reach in any weather.
A café suits breakfast or a short task. Ask about laptops and power sockets before you settle in, and take calls somewhere else.
When you need a desk for longer
BasisPoint Nishi-Shinjuku (in Japanese) is the nearest drop-in coworking space we can suggest. It is at 5-8-2 Nishi-Shinjuku, with reception on the 10th floor, and has Wi-Fi and power sockets.
It is in the next neighbourhood, so check the route from your apartment and allow time to get there. Our Nishi-Shinjuku guide has its prices and hours.
Plan around your working hours
For an early start, have coffee in Hatsudai and work at your apartment until the workspace opens. For an evening call, make sure the workspace will still be open when you finish.
A useful question at a café
"May I use my laptop here?" is ここでパソコンを使ってもいいですか? (Koko de pasokon o tsukatte mo ii desu ka?)
Order something, respect any time limit and keep shared tables free for other customers.
Staying nearby
LOHUS homes in Hatsudai are in a quiet residential neighbourhood, a ten-minute walk from Hatsudai Station and one stop from Shinjuku.
Hours checked in October 2026. Please confirm them on the official pages before you go.
