Coffee and Morning Work in Nishi-Shinjuku

If you are staying in Nishi-Shinjuku, you can start the day with coffee by the park and move to a paid workspace when you need a desk for longer.

Coffee by Shinjuku Central Park

Start at SHUKNOVA, the café and restaurant building inside Shinjuku Central Park. It has shared outdoor seating too. It is a good place for breakfast or a coffee break before work.

Check each café's opening hours before an early visit. Outdoor tables depend on the weather, and a café table is not a place for a full working day.

A workspace for a few hours

BasisPoint Nishi-Shinjuku has drop-in coworking with Wi-Fi and power sockets. It is in the Keitoku Building, 5-8-2 Nishi-Shinjuku, with reception on the 10th floor, about four minutes on foot from Nishi-Shinjuku-Gochome Station.

The drop-in rate for the open space is ¥330 for the first 30 minutes, then ¥260 for every 15 minutes, up to ¥3,300 a day. Reserved seats have different prices. You register, free of charge, on your first visit.

Drop-in hours are 9:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 19:00 on weekends and public holidays.

The BasisPoint FAQ (in Japanese) asks you to use headphones for online meetings in the shared area. Private rooms cost extra and suit confidential calls; book ahead if you need one.

What should you bring?

Take your laptop, charger, headphones and a way to pay. If you work in a café, order something, follow any laptop rules and give up the table when it gets busy.

Use cafés for short tasks, and your apartment or the coworking space for longer work. A walk through the park makes an easy break between sessions.

See the BasisPoint Nishi-Shinjuku page (in Japanese) for current prices, seats and opening hours.
